No matter how polluted our mental environment may seem at times, we can unleash the innate capacity to heal and find balance when we learn to work skillfully with the disturbing emotions. Buddhist Psychology teaches us about The Five Poisons—attachment, aversion, ignorance, pride, and jealousy. Using this framework to look directly at patterns in our own lives, we will learn practical approaches to transform our relationship with these universal human experiences, allowing them to become teachers rather than tormentors.
Each week we will explore one emotion and its natural antidote. Awareness itself becomes a medicine, allowing us to neither cling to nor run from these states, meeting them with curiosity and compassion. As these open up, we can discover freedom and peace. Throughout this series, we will cultivate a foundation of calmness and clarity through meditation, gentle movement, and contemplative practices that support our capacity to observe the heart and mind with wisdom and compassion.
Suitable for both beginners and also for those with more experience.
