Opening to the Dharma Program
Tuesdays, 6:15-7:45 PM,
January 9 - December 4

with five weekend workshops

The teachings of the Buddha form a complete path, in which every element is completely integrated with all others: head and heart, body and mind, wisdom and compassion. This year-long program gives a comprehensive survey of the path and introduces practices that can help make it a reality in your own life.

Participants sign up for the entire year-long sequence. There is a two week break in June and a three week break in August.

Winter Quarter
The Living Truth of the Path
(January 9 - March 13)

We start the journey on the path by understanding the goal and making a commitment to work toward that goal. Through study and practice, we prepare ourselves for the journey of transformation that lies ahead.

Spring Quarter
Putting the Path at the Center
(March 27 - May 29)

For study and practice to bear fruit, we must turn toward the Dharma, directing our thoughts and intentions toward the possibility of liberation from suffering. We investigate the four thoughts that turn the mind toward the Dharma and take a careful, sustained look at the structures of the self, the source of emotionality and confusion.

Summer Quarter
Depths of Experience
(June 12 - August 14)

The focus in this quarter is on the power of inquiry. We work intensively with the five skandhas, fundamental ways of structuring experience and reality according to Buddhist psychology, and then go on to investigate key structures of mind, learning to open ourselves to new realms of experience.

September Session
Activating the Power of Inquiry
(September 4 –25)

We continue to deepen our experiential understanding by focusing on the four foundations for mindfulness.

Fall Quarter
The Great Vision of the Mahayana
(October 2 –December 4)

In this final quarter we turn with wonder to the boundless vision and depth of the Mahayana teachings. Through study and practice, we learn to appreciate the path of the Bodhisattva, the six perfections, and the power of compassion.
